The Department of Biomedical Engineering is a degree-granting program of the University of Miami’s MD/PhD program. Students enrolled in the MD/PhD program start the PhD program after completion of the first two years of medical school. MD/PhD students who choose BME as their degree-granting program can count up to 15 credits of work completed during the first two years of medical school towards their PhD degree requirements.
