The Doctor of Philosophy program prepares graduates for careers in academia, industrial research and development, or government. The program is designed to train students for advanced independent research and technical innovation in biomedical engineering.
In general, the department admits three types of students to its PhD program:
The requirements include completion of a minimum of 60 course credits beyond the BS degree or 18 course credits beyond the M.S. degree, satisfactory completion of a qualifying examination, completion and oral defense of a dissertation research proposal, and completion and oral defense of a dissertation.
