Raymond Diaz is currently the Director of Manufacturing at Medtronic – Mechanical Circulatory Support, manufacturer of the HVAD Ventricular Assist Device. Ray received his B.S.M.E from Boston University in 1984. Ray began his career with the General Electric Aircraft Engines Business Group located in Lynn MA, where he works in various engineering roles on the F404 & T700 engines. Ray relocated to South Florida in 1988 where he started his career in the medical device field. His medical device experience spans multiple companies (Theratek International, Cordis Corp., Scion Cardio-Vascular Inc. and currently Medtronic) in roles ranging from Manufacturing Engineer to V.P. of Engineering. The Medical devices that Ray has worked on during his career include atherectomy, guidewires, intra-vascular radiation therapy, stents, stent delivery systems, distal protection devices and ventricular assist devices. Ray served on the Florida International University Biomedical Engineering Program Advisory Board (2001-2007) and is currently a member of the University of Miami Industrial Advisory Board.
